If you are like me and follow most of the music or
reality TV shows you may have been tuned in to this season of The Voice. Like
many of the other music related reality shows this one features four judges –
Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine – as judges who
with their back’s faced towards contestants choose their favourites based on
solely their voices. As the season went on I became more engrossed with the
wardrobe and feuds of Christina Aguilera than the music itself.
The
biggest feud this season was between judge Christina Aguilera and Team Adam
contestant Tony Lucca. Aguilera
and contestant Lucca worked together during their childhood days on “The Mickey
Mouse Club”. Aguilera has been criticized for being pretty harsh on her former childhood
pal, going as far as to claim that his performances are “one dimensional”.
However, during Monday night’s performance, things got a little heated when Aguilera
slammed Lucca
over a "derogatory" cover of Jay-Z's "99 Problems" even though Lucca skipped over the word “b***h”. To
make matters worse, Aguilera brought the singer’s wife and daughter into the
argument, adding that the lyrical connotation was a little derogatory towards
women.
Known
this season for her tasteless wardrobe, Aguilera is the last person who should
be saying something is “derogatory towards women.” Throughout the season
Aguilera could be seen in several revealing outfits exposing both her chest and
bottom on a weekly basis. Personally I am self conscious and like to somewhat cover
up. I feel that that you can still be sexy by leaving something to the
imagination. I guess Aguilera doesn’t agree. This season you may have noticed,
Aguilera “forgot” to wear pants on several occasions. Instead she chose to wear
bodysuit like outfits which give the impression of walking around in her
underwear. This being said I would never consider Aguilera a positive role
model for women or young girls.
For Tuesday night’s finale, my first
impression of the judge’s outfit was respectful as she wore an unbuttoned white
shirt with a black sequin low-cut blazer. But once she stood up
to console her contestant, Chris Mann, she surprised everyone
when she revealed she wasn't wearing anything under her blazer except silver
studded hot pants and fishnet stockings. Now ladies, do you
like this look? Is this something that you would wear? Aguilera’s official
website calls her finale look “classic xtina glamour.” I like to call it trashy
and classless
I guess I’m not the only one who feels this way. Check
out some comments left on #TheVoice on Twitter:
Sarah C said “I don't know if Christina hates
wearing pants or if pants hate wearing Christina, but just once I'd like to see
her in a pair.”
Just Jake said “It looked like Xtina was wearing
a studded diaper on the Voice tonight.”
Evan P said “Big, sparkly granny panties.”
Marylee C said “Dear Christina Aguilera: Your whole
appearance is derogatory towards women. Love, The World.”
Nicole M said “Christina Aguilera thought the lyrics in 99 problems
was offensive to women i would like to remind her of her “dirty” video”

First, let me say this: I don't necessarily like HER, but girl can definitely SING! She's got a set of pipes on her that would make us all fall to our knees and worship at her altar. However, I totally agree with you when you say that her appearance lately has seemed tawdry and classless. I think one of the reasons why her wardrobe has shrunk so much this season is because it essentially guarantees the show ratings. People will tune in more avidly when they smell a scandal and scantily clad women. It's the oldest trick in the book.
