As I big follower of the royal family I have always loved and admired Princess Diana. I recently came across an article about an upcoming movie about her life and instantly became interested to learn more. With a woman as stunning and iconic as the late Princess Diana it is no easy job to step into her shoes and take on her life for the big screen, but it appears that Naomi Watts has done just that.
Transforming into the world’s most loved royal, the 43 year old Watts will be staring as the late Princes Diana in an upcoming biopic titled Diana. The Oliver Hirschiegel directed film will observe the last two years of Diana’s life including her relationships with Dr. Hasnat Khan, who was said to be the love of her life despite their split after two years in 1997, as well as her billionaire love Dodi Al Fayed, who died with her in the crash.
Formerly Diana Spencer, the late Diana Princess of Wales married Prince Charles in July 29, 1981. Diana famously divorced Prince Charles in August 1996. The celebrated mother of Princes William and Harry, and global humanitarian tragically passed away at the age of 36 in an August 1997 car crash in Paris while her car was being chased by paparazzi.
In official movie stills, Watts is shown in many of the Princess’ signature styles including her short blond hair, her sapphire earrings and timeless suits and gowns. It is uncanny how much Watts looks like the late Princess. Will Watts rise to the occasion and play this iconic role to honor the memory of the late Princess or will this movie be yet another plot to exploit the life of the woman known to the world as the People’s Princess? I guess we must sit back and see.
